Scott O. Reed concentrates his practice on insurance coverage issues with an emphasis on directors and officers liability, lawyers malpractice, general liability, fidelity, health care professional and environmental liability, and architects and engineers liability, as well as other miscellaneous professional, life, disability, and employment practices liability insurance. He has litigated and arbitrated in both state and federal court. Scott has briefed over forty appeals in state and federal courts in Illinois, Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania and Maryland, many involving declaratory judgments over insurance issues.

Prior to joining DLH, Scott was a partner in the Chicago law firm of Reardon Golinkin & Reed, a boutique law firm specializing in directors and officers and professional liability and insurance coverage issues. Before that, he was special counsel with Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold and an officer with the Chicago firm of Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered. He served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas M. Welch of the Illinois Appellate Court and was a staff attorney for the the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, the administrative arm of the Illinois Supreme Court, with principal responsibility for organizing the state's continuing judicial education programs, serving as staff liaison to judicial study committees and drafting court rules and commentary.

Scott has briefed over forty appeals in state and federal courts in Illinois, Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania and Maryland, many involving declaratory judgments over insurance issues.

Mr. Reed completed his undergraduate studies in history and mathematics at the University of North Wales and the University of Illinois, receiving a B.A. in 1976. He was an intern for Congressman Robert H. Michel, House Minority Whip, in 1976. Mr. Reed earned his J.D. in 1980 from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a Dean's List student, a Harno Fellow, and a recipient of the McRoberts Memorial Law Scholarship.
